OUR STORY

Networking at conferences usually leads to one thing...more work.

We (Jim, Brad and Pam) starting talking at the NSGIC Conference in 2007 about the lack of venues and opportunities for rural communities to learn about geospatial technology development in a 'small shop' form. While many symposia and conferences offer presentations and workshops on geospatial technology, the scale of the operations targeted far exceed the capability or needs of many small communities at this time. We talked about how the front end of geospatial technology development will leave behind small communities without some intervention.

The Rural GIS Summit (RGS) is our way of intervening in the process to reach out to small communities and provide some basic information we feel has been left out of many other opportunities. The Summit is also a way to highlight that small communities are not alone in this veritable tidal wave of technology and that networking among small shops is vital.

If you agree, please join us at a Rural GIS Summit event.
